400 kms of charging in 5 minutes! BYD launches 1000V high-voltage flash charging platform
On March 17, BYD held a Super e platform technology conference and launched the “Megawatt Flash Charging” technology. The charging power of electric vehicles has officially entered the megawatt era.
Wang Chuanfu, chairman of BYD Group, said that in the field of new energy passenger vehicles, this technology has the world’s highest mass-produced charging voltage of 1000V, the maximum charging current of 1000A, the maximum charging rate of 10C, and the world’s maximum mass-produced charging power of 1MW (1000kw).
Wang Chuanfu introduced that the “Megawatt Flash Charging” technology has achieved the world’s highest mass-produced peak charging speed, 2 kilometers in 1 second. Previously, the industry’s highest charging range of 5 minutes reached 255 kilometers, and our technology can charge for 5 minutes and travel more than 400 kilometers. “Improving charging speed is a way to solve charging anxiety. We pursue the same speed of oil and electricity, and the charging time is as short as the refueling time, which completely solves the user’s range anxiety of electric travel.”

At present, the technology has entered the trial operation stage, and the first models equipped with it may be the Han L and Tang L series.
In order to achieve efficient operation of supercharging piles and alleviate the pressure on the power grid, BYD simultaneously launched the “photovoltaic storage and charging integrated” supercharging station. Through the linkage of photovoltaic power generation, energy storage system and charging piles, the supercharging station can dynamically allocate energy: use low-priced electricity to store energy at night, release it to charging piles during the day, combine AI to predict charging demand, optimize grid load, and reduce operating costs. This model not only reduces operating costs by 29%, but also reduces user charging costs through peak-valley electricity price differences. BYD’s “photovoltaic storage and charging integrated machine” patent approved at the end of 2024 further reduces costs by 30% through structural optimization. Its external heat dissipation design abandons traditional fans, improves equipment reliability, and lays the foundation for the implementation of technology.
